The low sun early in the morning poses real problems with shots like this.  I had to wait until there was a thin covering of cloud over it, but still illuminating the tree.  A flask and some food help with the waiting!  Wonder why I gave up studio photography for landscape?

I must admit to taking several exposures and trying HDR, my pet hate.  The results confirmed my feelings about it.  I hate it!  I thought I had an acceptable image, then I worked on the original using curves and the dodge and burn tools, just like I do in the darkroom.  There is no shortcut. The HDR version looked so false.
